R&R Systems has developed an energy system to extract heat from effluent (manure) for the fish farming sector. Combined with Power Profit Solar Panels or Energy Collectors on the roof, this system provides a fully sustainable heating solution for the water in the breeding tanks.
In the Netherlands, almost all fish are grown in recirculation systems. The effluent from the fish farming system is often treated in a clarifier and is warm.
R&R Systems has developed an energy system of floating heat exchangers that can extract heat from the effluent. This heat can, for example, be reused for the heating of breeding tanks via a heat pump. Breeding tanks have a temperature of about 27°C. With this system, the water can be pre-heated to a temperature of 12°C to 15°C, which saves substantially on energy costs.
